Condylar Replacement Introduction |

This patient is a female in her early forties who suffered the loss of her mandibular condyles in an automobile accident. The mandibular condyles are the part of the lower jaw that articulates with the skull and allows for proper opening and closing. The joint formed between the lower jaw and the skull is unique in the human body and injuries here are often difficult to treat.
This was a Pro Bono case referred to me by an organization called the Metro Dream Works which is sort of like the make a wish foundation for people who need medical and dental procedures that are extremely costly. My guess is that had the patient paid for this treatment, it would have cost her over $60,000.00. Treatment was provided by Myself, Dr. Louis Cardenas and Dr's Kawa and Nicolas. Laboratory work was provided by Boca Provisionals in Boca Raton, Florida and Lifelike Dental Studios in Nanuet, New York.
