Spline PDF Print E-mail
Description

The head of the implant has projections which stick up. The abutment is keyed to fit into these projections. The idea is to prevent rotation and loosening.

Prosthetic Advantages

The manufacturers claim that this attachment is more stable than any others. It is stable in terms of anti-rotation, but not in terms of lateral forces.

Prosthetic Disadvantages

Splines can fracture and lateral forces can be a problem.

Economics

Expensive

Recommendations

A poor choice for most applications. Not recommended!
