Comprehensive Reconstruction of Mandibular Jaw with Crowns & Bridge Restorations

A Long Distance Treatment Scenario

 First Working Visit

The first visit was the longest and most difficult for me. At this visit, I placed 8 implants into the patients mandible and also took an impression for a provisional restoration for the next visit. I scheduled this visit for a Friday morning because I normally do not work on Fridays and that way I would not have to deal with any other patients. The procedure went extremely well and the patient had absolutely no postoperative pain.

I maintained he four bicuspids for the retention of her partial denture, but we knew they would be removed at the next visit. It made it a lot harder to place the implants behind the bicuspids, but it turned out to be very good for the patient since she had no loss of function for the next three month period while the implants were integrating.

The photos on the left depict the Panorex x-ray showing the placement of the 8 implants and the original working cast for the provisional restorations.
