Major Reconstruction of Maxillary and Mandibular Arches
With Fixed Implant Restorations
 | Major dental reconstruction is an art as well as a science and it requires a great deal of training and skill to provide a good outcome. Many attempts end in failure and this can usually be traced back to a dentist's willingness to take on more than he or she can chew (pun intended). This was a male patient in his 60's who presented with a failing dentition. Loss of teeth over many years had lead to a loss of normal landmarks and this patient presented quite a challenge indeed. | | The presenting restoration was a maxillary and a mandibular removable partial denture. The patient was not happy with this restoration. | | Radiographically, he had plenty of bone in the lower arch (actually, too much as you will see) and the maxilla was fairly compromised.... | |
