The Locator Attachment

Drawing of Locator

  • The Abutment (Gold Color)
  • The Plastic Male (White)
  • The Metal retaining housing (Silver)

The abutment is characterized by a shape that allows for both internal and external retention. It fits several implant systems and is available in 10 and 20 degree angulations. It is self locating allowing the patient to easily insert the Overdenture. The attachment is also available for roots.

The locator attachment is one of the smallest attachments available. The photos on the left show the Locator attachment at the far left of the photo and then the ERA, the Dalla Bona, an O-ring attachment and finally on the right a ball and cap attachment. Interestingly enough, I have found that the locator is also the easiest for patients to insert and it is definitely the most retentive.
